Description

Steel Y-Branch – Ø90, RAL 7016, RAL 9005 & Aluzinc

The Y-branch brings two downpipes together into one. Where a roof has more outlets than it needs runs at ground level – a projecting wing, a dormer, a lower roof discharging onto the same elevation as the main one – this fitting merges the two pipes so a single run continues down to the drain.

That saves both the second run of pipe and the second connection to the drainage below, which is usually the more expensive half of the job. It also tidies the elevation: one pipe down the wall instead of two side by side, which on a visible frontage makes a noticeable difference.

The branch enters at an angle rather than square, so water from the incoming pipe joins the main flow travelling in the same direction instead of meeting it head-on – a smoother junction that is less prone to backing up under heavy flow. It is pressed from the same coated steel as the pipe and finished to match.

What this Y-branch works with

This fitting suits Ø90 steel downpipe. A complete downpipe run generally needs:

  • Ø90 downpipe, 3 m – the pipe lengths themselves
  • Gutter funnel Ø130/90 – the outlet at each gutter the branch serves
  • Ø90 elbows – to bring the incoming pipe across to meet the main run
  • Ø90 downpipe connectors – one at each joint between pipe lengths
  • Ø90 downpipe brackets – to fix both runs to the wall, with one close to the branch
  • Ø90 spout – to finish the combined run at the bottom
  • Ø90 rainwater catcher – where you want to divert water into a butt

How many do you need?

One Y-branch for each pair of downpipes you are joining. Allow a pair of elbows to bring the incoming pipe across to the main run, and a bracket close below the branch to carry the extra weight at that point. Bear in mind that the combined run carries the flow of both roofs, so check the pipe below is adequate before merging two large catchment areas. Send us your roof layout and we will advise.

Colours

Available in RAL 7016 anthracite grey, RAL 9005 jet black and Aluzinc, matched to the downpipe, brackets, gutter and fittings in the same range. Other RAL shades can be supplied to order – contact us for availability.
