Description

Steel Downpipe Bracket – Ø90, RAL 7016, RAL 9005 & Aluzinc

The downpipe bracket clamps around the Ø90 pipe and fixes it to the wall. It carries the weight of the pipe and its contents, and holds the run tight against the elevation so the pipe cannot swing, rattle in wind or work loose over time.

Spacing does most of the work here. A pipe fixed at too few points flexes at the joints, and that movement is what eventually opens a connector and starts water tracking down the wall. Brackets at regular intervals keep the run rigid and vertical, with a fixing close under the top elbow, where the load from the gutter outlet is concentrated, and another near the bottom where the pipe is most likely to be knocked.

The bracket is finished to match the pipe and the rest of the system, so the fixings recede into the run rather than marking it out at intervals down the wall.

What this bracket works with

This bracket suits Ø90 steel downpipe. A complete downpipe run generally needs:

  • Ø90 downpipe, 3 m – the pipe lengths themselves
  • Gutter funnel Ø130/90 – the outlet where water leaves the gutter and enters the pipe
  • Ø90 elbows – usually a pair, to set the pipe back from the eaves to the wall face
  • Ø90 downpipe connectors – one at each joint between pipe lengths
  • Ø90 spout – to finish the pipe at the bottom and throw water clear of the wall
  • Ø90 rainwater catcher – where you want to divert water into a butt

How many do you need?

As a guide, allow a bracket near the top of the run and at the foot, plus one at every joint between pipe lengths and at regular intervals in between – so a 3 m length typically takes two. Exposed elevations and taller runs want them closer together. Note that the fixing you need depends on what you are fixing into: this bracket suits masonry, while timber-clad walls take a bracket with a screw fixing instead. Send us the height of your elevation and the wall type and we will tell you what the run needs.
