Description

Steel Elbow – Ø90, RAL 7016, RAL 9005 & Aluzinc

The elbow changes the direction of the downpipe. Its most common job is at the top of the run: the gutter sits out at the eaves, the wall is set back behind it, and a pair of elbows brings the pipe in from one to the other before it drops vertically down the elevation.

They are also what gets a pipe past an obstacle further down – a projecting plinth, a bay window roof, a porch – or angles the bottom of the run towards a gully that isn’t directly beneath it. Used in pairs facing opposite ways, elbows produce a neat offset; a short piece of pipe between them sets how far the run steps across.

The elbow is pressed from the same coated steel as the downpipe and finished to match, so a direction change looks like part of the design rather than a repair.

What this elbow works with

This fitting suits Ø90 steel downpipe. A complete downpipe run generally needs:

  • Ø90 downpipe, 3 m – the pipe lengths themselves
  • Gutter funnel Ø130/90 – the outlet where water leaves the gutter and enters the pipe
  • Ø90 downpipe connectors – one at each joint between pipe lengths
  • Ø90 downpipe brackets – to fix the pipe to the wall at regular intervals
  • Ø90 spout – to finish the pipe at the bottom and throw water clear of the wall
  • Ø90 rainwater catcher – where you want to divert water into a butt

How many do you need?

Allow two elbows per downpipe as standard – one below the gutter funnel and one where the pipe reaches the wall face. Add a further pair for each obstacle the run has to step around, and one more at the bottom if the pipe needs angling towards a gully. Measure the distance from the gutter back to the wall before ordering, since a wide overhang may need a short length of pipe between the two elbows. Send us a photo of your eaves and we will tell you what the run needs.
