Self-Drilling Roofing Screw – Colour-Matched, Steel Sheet to Timber

The WFD is a self-drilling “farmer” screw for fastening profiled steel sheet, tile-effect roofing panels and metal cladding onto timber rafters, purlins and battens. Its drill point passes through sheet material up to 2 mm without a pilot hole and then threads straight into the timber underneath, keeping fixing times down on long roof runs.

The hex head drives quickly with a standard nut setter and gives a broad bearing surface for good pull-through resistance, while the bonded EPDM washer seals the perforation against rain and driven moisture. What sets the WFD apart is its painted head: a UV-stable lacquer finish that holds its shade for years and lets the fixings disappear into the roof sheet rather than dotting it.

Colour options

Heads are lacquered to match the most common roofing and cladding shades, including:

• RAL 3005 wine red, RAL 3009 oxide red, RAL 3011 brown red
• RAL 6005 moss green, RAL 6020 chrome green
• RAL 7024 graphite grey
• RAL 8004 copper brown, RAL 8017 chocolate brown, RAL 8019 grey brown
• RAL 9005 jet black, RAL 9006 white aluminium, RAL 9010 pure white

The RAL number forms the last part of the product code – for example, a 4,8 x 25 mm screw in wine red is WFD-48025-3005. Other RAL shades can be supplied to order; please ask if the colour you need isn’t listed.
