PRIMED Steel Finishes Priming applies zinc phosphate-rich paint to steel, forming a corrosion-resistant layer. Primed coatings block rust by disrupting anode formation, breaking down into zinc ions (Zn2+) and phosphate ions (PO43-) when exposed to water. The phosphate ions neutralize the steel, while zinc ions further curb corrosion. For optimal protection, apply the paint at 125 microns thick, typically in two layers using a roller. This method works well for indoor use but offers limited defense in severe outdoor environments.
