COATINGS FOR COLD-ROLLED MILD STEEL SHEETS
Why Coatings Matter
We supply sheets with various protective coatings to balance aesthetics, performance and budget. Each major manufacturer (e.g. Tata Steel, ArcelorMittal) uses proprietary formulas, resulting in different appearances, durability and warranty terms.
Warranties up to 60 years are available, but 20 years is most common commercially. Warranty length does not equal lifespan — with good maintenance, sheets can last 100+ years.
Note: Colours may vary slightly by coating type, manufacturer and lighting conditions.

Powder Coating for Flashings
Flashings and trims can be powder-coated: electrostatic application of dry powder, then cured under heat to form a hard, durable finish. In the UK, powder-coated items typically carry separate warranties (usually 10–25 years) from the main sheet coating and are not covered under the primary roof sheet warranty.
Coatings & Warranties Explained in Detail
We love helping customers choose the right coating — our modern options are multi-layer systems with primer, coloured topcoat and protective clear layer. We often use Plastisol for our warehouse projects: it’s thick, has a subtle leathergrain texture and gives great value.
Other favourites include basic polyester for budget jobs and premium PVDF when you need top fade resistance. Each manufacturer’s blend (like Tata’s Colorcoat HPS200 Ultra® or ArcelorMittal’s Granite®) varies in polymers, pigments and thickness, so gloss and colour stay true differently.
Our warranties cover rust-through and major fading/peeling, but depend on your site (coastal areas shorten terms). Proper fitting and simple maintenance keep them valid.
Good news: your roof will easily outlast the warranty — we’ve seen well-kept sheets looking strong after 80–100+ years, even if the colour softens a bit.
For flashings, we powder-coat them for a tough, even finish. These come with their own 10–25 year UK warranty and aren’t tied to your main sheet guarantee — cutting sheets on site can void that one, so let us handle it!
